‘We can. I can.’, World Cancer Day 2016-2018  theme will explore how everyone – as a collective or as individuals – can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including cancer are the leading cause of death and disability worldwide.There is a projected increase in cancer deaths.

Top 5 most frequent cancers include:

  1. Lung
  2. Breast
  3. Colorectal
  4. Prostate
  5. Stomach

By addressing risk factors, one third of common cancers can be prevented.

What we can do include:

  • Quit smoking
  • Reduce alcohol consumption
  • Exercise regularly
  • Adopt healthy diet
  • Be sun smart
  • Be aware of environmental factors
  • Be aware of signs and symptoms
  • Get vaccinated
